Wedding Invitation Guide Issue #9
MAILING WEDDING INVITATIONS
Welcome to Issue 9 of my Wedding Invitation Guide.
In the last issue, I covered the assembling of your wedding invitations. Now that they are all assembled and addressed, the next step is mailing your wedding invitations. The first step is to take one of them that is fully assembled to the Post Office to have it weighed. The weight, and possibly size, will determine how much postage will be required for mailing.
To save both time and your tongue, be sure to purchase self-adhesive stamps. The Post Office will have several styles for you to choose from or you may want to create your own custom wedding stamps. Even though they cost extra, that really do add a personal touch to your mailing. Many online retailers let you select a pre-designed stamp that complements your wedding theme or you can create your very own photo stamps. Simply upload a favorite photo or maybe your engagement photo to share with guests as part of your wedding invitation mailing. Many times you also have the option of personalizing with your names and wedding date.
It's recommended that wedding invitations are mailed a minimum of 4-6 weeks before your wedding date and that they are mailed directly at a Post Office all at one time rather than at a street corner mailbox. The suggestion for weddings being held over holiday weekends, during holiday times, or at a far-a-way destination is that the invitations should be mailed 10-12 weeks ahead of the date.
