Welcome to Issue 9 of my Wedding Invitation Guide.
In the last issue, I covered the assembling of your wedding invitations. Now that they are all assembled and addressed, the next step is to mail your wedding invitations. The first step is to take one to the Post Office to have it weighed. The weight will determine how much postage will be required for mailing.
To save both time and your tongue, be sure to purchase self-adhesive stamps. The Post Office will have several styles for you to choose from. You might want to choose a style that complements your wedding theme or one that represents a special interest of you or the groom. If your wedding will be held near a holiday, you can consider choosing a stamp to fit that theme. Please keep in mind that not all themed stamps may be available in self-adhesive form.
It's recommended that wedding invitations are mailed 4-6 weeks before your wedding date and that they are mailed directly at a Post Office rather than at a street corner mailbox. The suggestion for weddings being held over holiday weekends, during holiday times, or at a far-a-way destination is that the invitations should be mailed 10-12 weeks ahead of the date.
